NFL Football is upon us and with it comes a new set of practice squad rules. With the squad now consisting of 16 players, the team can safely move 2 players on and off the 53-man roster each week, protecting 4 in total. Given that they’ve only just set the roster, it looks as though the team want to keep their most prized players close to their chest.

The Eagles are clearly high on Opeta and given the lack of offensive line depth, it’s hardly surprising. Ostman and Burnett are both coming off of exceptional summers and cornerback depth is minimal, so protecting a former Chargers starter makes sense in Trevor Williams.

There may be some more roster moves ahead of Sunday, but for now, it looks as though the Birds just want to protect their most players on the practice squad.
