The Eagles starting their summer of preparation this past week down at the NovaCare Complex, but it’s already been thrown into total disarray. Just days after Lane Johnson, Jordan Mailata, and Nate Gerry on the COVID-19 list, their Head Coach, Doug Pederson will now join them.
Doug Pederson and one other Eagles staffer have contracted the virus and will be away from the facility until medically cleared to return. The obvious concern here is with Doug, his family, and the rest of the Eagles organization after a flurry of infections this past week. Hopefully the spread of the virus within the facility can be contained and all infected can make a full recovery.
As for Training Camp, I don’t think the wheels are going to halt any time soon. The Eagles have a slew of new coaches to make up the offensive coordinator role and Jim Schwartz will be able to run the ship on the defensive end. Let’s not forget the defensive coordinator was once a Head Coach too.
The Eagles may make a decision down the line to suspend camp until it’s safe to resume, but I suspect that it will be a last resort with the team already racing against the clock.
