Christ Koumadje has capitalized a very strong first season in the Sixers organization off with a bit of hardware to add to his trophy case. An undrafted rookie out of Florida State, Koumadje led the G-League in blocks per game and total blocks this past season, earning him the league’s “Defensive Player of the Year” award.

At 7’4″ and 269lbs, the Chad native is an absolute behemoth of a man. Operating primarily as a rim-protecting center, Koumadje averaged 11.3 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 4.0 blocks per game. He appeared in 33 total games and averaged just over 26 minutes per game.

Outside of his absurd shot-blocking skills, Koumadje flashed some serious potential when it comes to becoming an all-around NBA center. On January 4, 2020, Koumadje recorded a triple-double during a blowout win over the Long Island Nets. He posted 12 points, 16 rebounds, and a franchise-record 12 blocks.

Koumadje joins a solid list of players who have rapidly developed for the Sixers down in Delaware. Former Blue Coat star Shake Milton is making a serious case to be a starter currently, Norvel Pelle has seen some NBA action recently, and second-round draft pick Marial Shayok had fans swooning all year long. Considering the glaring hole that the Sixers have at backup center currently, Koumadje could make a serious push for the position in 2021.
