A little bit before 2 PM ET, news broke from the Sixers organization regarding the health of their All-Star point guard: Ben Simmons. Needless to say, it wasn’t exactly what Philly fans wanted to hear.
Simmons has already missed the last two and a half weeks with his nerve impingement, and this recent update doesn’t necessarily sound like he’ll be back anytime soon. A “reevaluation” in three weeks doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll actually be healthy in three weeks.
The Sixers are in the midst of a tight battle for seeding in the eastern conference, and could desperately use Simmons back. However, with the way these events are unfolding, the Sixers may be lucky to just get him back for the playoffs.
Simmons is scheduled to meet with the media tonight as the team prepares to host the Detroit Pistons.
