In what could be the start to a flurry of last-second moves by the Sixers front office, they have officially traded James Ennis III to the Orlando Magic. After acquiring both Alec Burks and Glenn Robinson III from the Warriors, it was expected that one of the team’s backup wing players would be on the move.

James Ennis was one of the Sixers priority signings this past offseason, as crazy as that sounds. They entered into negations with him quickly, which saw him return on a cheaper deal with a no-trade clause. However, just halfway through the 2019/2020 season and he’s looked completely unusable.

Falling out of the rotation as guys like Furkan Korkmaz and Shake Milton have emerged, moving Ennis for an extra second-rounder was an easy decision for Elton Brand and the Sixers. Ennis obviously approved of the move as he waived his no-trade clause, joining former Sixer Markelle Fultz down in Florida.
