The NHL All-Star festivities are an opportunity to immerse fans into special, one of a kind experiences. Each division has a team that competes in a three-on-three, single-elimination tournament. Last season, the NHL All-Star weekend found it’s home in San Jose, California. For the Philadelphia Flyers, Claude Giroux represented on the Metropolitan Division team. In a weekend that is supposed to be about great public interest and sportsmanship, let’s make it a point to make Oskar Lindblom the honorary captain of the Metropolitan Division team.

Oskar Lindblom will not be suiting back up this season due to his diagnosis of Ewing’s Sarcoma. The love, respect, and appreciation for Lindblom are all over the NHL, not just in Philadelphia. Before his diagnosis, Lindblom was one of the better offensive forwards on the Philadelphia Flyers scoring 18 points in 30 games played. That’s good enough for sixth on the team, post-diagnosis. It’s not inaccurate to state that if Lindblom wasn’t diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, he would have received all-star votes.

There’s two days left for the NHL 2020 All-Star fan voting. For a weekend that doesn’t have any real season implications for the outcome of the All-Star tournament, my representative for the Metropolitan Division is Oskar Lindblom. On December 20th, 2019, the voting for the divisional captains will close. You can submit a max of ten ballots within a 24 hour period. The goal is that Lindblom will be the on bench captain of the Metropolitan Division when the NHL All-Star festivities take place on January 24th and 25th in St. Louis, Missouri.

In 2019, the Metropolitan Division won the NHL All-Star tournament in San Jose. The voted captain, Alexander Ovechkin opted to abstain from the tournament to get rest. The captain of the All-Star tournament doesn’t have to play, they just need to represent and be passionate. Oskar Lindblom’s a perfect fit.
