Week 8 was an interesting one for the NFC East. While the Cowboys rested on their BYE week, the Eagles gained ground on them by taking down the, once 5-1, Buffalo Bills. The Giants, on the other hand, were caught up in a shootout against Stafford and the Lions but came up short. As for the Redskins, well they’re the Redskins. Not much more you can say about that team at this point. Anyway, here’s your Week 9 guide on the State of the NFC East:

Philadelphia Eagles

2019 Record: 4-4

2019 RANKS:

• Offense: 14th

• Defense: 21st

• Passing offense: 21st

• Rushing offense: 13th

Key players of Week 8:

• Miles Sanders – 3 carries, 74 rushing yards, 3 receptions, 44 receiving yards, 1 TD

• Jordan Howard- 23 carries, 96 rushing yards, 1 TD

Week 9 vs Chicago Bears @ 1pm ET

The Eagles snapped a two-game losing streak against a Buffalo Bills team that only had one loss on the season before Sunday. Leading the way was the team’s dynamic rushing attack that picked up 218 rushing yards against the Bills defense. Miles Sanders had the ‘explosive play of the day’ with a 65-yard touchdown run to open the second half.

Now, the birds fly back home to prepare for an NFC Wild Card rematch against the Chicago Bears. With the possible return of DeSean Jackson creating excitement in Philly, could this be the turnaround game for the Eagles offense?

Washington Redskins

2019 Record: 1-7

2019 Ranks:

• Offense: 30th

• Defense: 19th

• Passing offense: 31st

• Rushing offense: 25th

Key players of Week 8:

• Adrian Peterson – 14 carries, 76 rushing yards

Week 9 vs Buffalo Bills @ 1pm ET

Adrian Peterson had his return to Minnesota spoiled by the lackluster Redskins offense. This team continues to struggle on the field and off it. The Redskins, for some reason, stood pat at the deadline with disgruntled LT Trent Williams instead of moving him for an enticing return.

Now, they take on a Bills team who’s looking to rebound after a 31-13 loss against the Eagles.

Dallas Cowboys

2019 Record: 4-3

2019 RANKS:

• Offense: 6th

• Defense: 7th

• Passing offense: 3trd

• Rushing offense: 4th

Key players of Week 8:

• BYE WEEK

Week 9 vs New York Giants @ 8:15pm ET MNF

This matchup may be the last of the ‘easy’ games for the Cowboys as the schedule gets a bit difficult after the Giants matchup. While the Giants matchup shouldn’t be chalked up as an automatic win, the Boys could have an easy win but then again, the Jets game was supposed to be easy as well…

New York Giants

2019 Record: 2-6

2019 Ranks:

• Offense: 22nd

• Defense: 27th

• Passing offense: 17th

• Rushing offense: 17th

Key players of Week 8:

• Daniel Jones – 28/41, 322 yards, 4 TD

• Saquon Barkley – 19 carries, 64 rushing yards, 8 receptions, 79 receiving yards, 1 TD

Week 9 vs Dallas Cowboys @ 8:15pm ET MNF

The Giants are coming off a game where they went neck and neck with Stafford and the Lions. Daniel Jones put up 4 touchdowns and over 300 yards passing against the Lions defense. Now, he faces a tougher test against an NFC East rival, Dallas Cowboys, that could pay dividends for the rookies’ confidence if they win. With the Cowboys and Giants facing off this Monday, the expectation is to not expect anything. This game could go either way at any point.
