Five bold predictions for the Eagles’ week 7 showdown with the Bills

It’s been a rollercoaster week for the Eagles. Noise, noise, and more noise. But now’s the time for the talking to stop and the walking to begin. Can Pederson really right the ship after two blowout losses? Here are five bold predictions for today’s game!

Record so far: 10-35

Rumbling through Buffalo

It’s wet and windy in Buffalo and throwing conditions are less than optimal. Luckily for the Eagles, they have a human bowling ball in the backfield by the name of Jordan Howard. This has to be a game where the former Chicago bear barrels his way down the alley all-day long, keeping the ball away from Allen and more importantly, the defense off the field.

I predict that Howard will rush for 100-yards, his first 100+ yard rushing game of the season, and score at least one touchdown.

The Green Goblin makes a splash

Jalen Mills returned to action last week and was actually impressive, all things considered. He picked off a pass in his first game in close to a year, but it went massively overlooked due to the fact that the Eagles fumbled shortly after. This week, he’s back with a vengeance.

My second prediction is for Jalen Mills to pick off a stray pass in tricky conditions and finger-wag at least twice.

Jenkins silences Scandrick

Orlando Scandrick had plenty to say about the Eagles safety on national television this week, but was any of it accurate or warranted? Actions speak louder than words and Jenkins, who has had a slightly underwhelming season so far, will be chomping at the bit to make an impact today.

Thirdly, I predict that Jenkins will register a sack, 8 tackles, and a pass defense.

The big one…

The Bills offense is hardly the most intimidating thing on the planet, but then neither is the Eagles defense…and the blueprint is out there to rip it to shreds. However, enough is enough. QB Josh Allen has thrown 7 touchdowns and 7 interceptions this season and the Eagles defense really should be able to capitalize on his decision making on a day where the weather is so harsh.

My fourth bold prediction is….NO PASSING TOUCHDOWNS ALLOWED. I know, it’s a shocker…but we’re going really bold here.

Run defense does what it says on the tin

It’s stunning that 36-year old (and Eagles legend) Frank Gore is averaging 4.5 yards per carry this season, absolutely stunning. But he faces a defense that insists on stopping the run above all else, for better or worse. I can’t see Gore averaging 4.5 yards per carry today and instead, I predict the Eagles will hold him to under 3.
