The Eagles made a pair of roster moves on Wednesday evening following the official announcements of Akeem Spence joining the team and Malik Jackson being placed on IR.

The Eagles promoted CB Craig James from their practice squad. It was mentioned last week that Pederson would use the 53rd spot on the roster as a ‘flex’ position. Last week, TE Alex Ellis was promoted from the practice squad and this week, it looks as though the practice carousel continues.

James has already spent time on the Eagles roster after being signed ten days ago. The former UDFA spent time with the Vikings before being waived during the final roster cuts. At 5’10, 195 lbs, James appeared in 3 games as a rookie, earning his money on special teams. That’s likely going to be the case here as well.

TE Alex Ellis was waived earlier this week but has cleared waivers and has now been signed back to the Eagles practice squad. Ellis played in 22 special teams snaps in week one after an impressive preseason. Given that he’s cleared waivers and now returns to the 10-man squad the 53rd roster spot roulette appears to be spinning nicely, with the ball landing on whichever position of need stands out for the game ahead.
