Everything you need to know ahead of Eagles preseason clash with Jaguars

The Eagles are coming off a devastating 27-10 loss to the Titans in their first preseason game. Okay, okay, it’s not even close to being devastating.

The team now travels 848 miles to meet up with an old friend, a certain quarterback named Nick Foles.

While it won’t be the Wentz versus Foles (Foles will not play) battle of one series that everyone will want to see, it’s still an important game to watch to see if certain players continue to impress from the first game.

The last time these two teams met was way back in October of 2018, when the two played in London.  The Eagles won this game 24-18 and evened their record at 4-4.  Another tidbit about this game, our own Liam Jenkins is featured on the Philadelphia Eagles website on an article titled “Why Is There An Eagles Blogger In England?”  Check it out!

This time around, the two teams will be showcasing promising rookies, veterans who need to shake off some rust, and other players on the roster bubble.

Players to Watch

The Jaguars will continue to show off promising rookie defensive end Josh Allen, whom many regarded as the best pass rusher in college.  It’ll be interesting to see how Eagles rookie offensive tackle Andre Dillard fares against a player of this skill set, as Allen lined up at right end during their first preseason game.

Speaking of Dillard, he has definitely turned some heads after a strong first preseason game, and has also shown his aggressiveness during practice this week:

Two days, two fights for Dillard. His tenacity is going to do just fine in Philadelphia.

Another player who had a strong game last week is defensive end Daeshon Hall, who was constantly in the Titans’ backfield:

Hall wasn’t talked about much this offseason, as defensive end Josh Sweat took most of the praise. But Hall is making sure his name is remembered when it comes time for the coaches to set the roster.

Finally, another player to keep an eye on this game is wide receiver Marken Michel. The brother of Patriots’ running back Sony Michel, Michel will look to build on a strong game (one catch for 75 yards and a touchdown) to further cement his spot on the roster as the fifth wide receiver.

I know what you’re probably saying right now “one catch is a strong game?”  Well when that catch comes after flying by Adoree Jackson, who ran a 4.42 40 yard dash at the 2017 NFL combine, yes it’s a strong game:

Other players to watch:
  • Linebacker Alex Singleton
  • Tackle Jordan Mailata
  • Cornerback Orlando Scandrick
  • Running back Miles Sanders
