Buffalo Bandits defeat Wings in Home Opener

Philadelphia: It is always exciting when you begin a new season in front of the home fans and that is what we have on Saturday afternoon as the Philadelphia Wings made their return to NLL for the first time since 2014 as they took on the Buffalo Bandits from the Wells Fargo Center in South Philadelphia.

Before the game, the Wings would honor their history by raising the retired numbers of Tom “Hollywood” Marechek (42), Dallas Eliuk (35), and Jake Bergey (66) & championship banners.

Buffalo will jump out to a 3-0 lead early in the first quarter & the Wings would get on the board for their first goal back in the league from Vaughn Harris.

How the Building sounded when the Wings scored

The Wings would tie the game at 4 with 1 minute left in the first quarter, The Bandits would lead 5-4 at the end of the first quarter. The Wings would rally back and cut into the Bandits lead.
Buffalo lead 11-9 at halftime.

In the second half, the Wings would keep grinding their way back and they would make things very interesting as the Bandits would take a 13-12 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

The Wings would come back to tie the game at 15 late in the 4th quarter, Buffalo would score 2 goals that would ruin any chance of a comeback, Buffalo would hold on for a 17-15 win.
