Philadelphia Wings Notebook: The story so far

Philadelphia: There is a lot of buzz and excitement about the return of the Philadelphia Wings as they will play their first game at the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday, December 15 for the first time since the 2014 season. Comcast Spectacor would get the rights to an expansion team in 2017.

January 25: Paul Day was named head coach of the Philadelphia Wings

July 12: Wings unveil their Jerseys:

 

July 16: 1st Player taken by the Wings in 2018 Expansion Draft

 

September 25: Wings Number 2 Overall Pick in 2018 NLL Draft

 

November 1: The Wings would name NBC Sports Philly & 97.5 The Fanatic  Marc Farzetta as PA Announcer for Wings games at Wells Fargo Center

November 9:
The Wings new Mascot was announced & named Wingston (@WingstonNLL on Twitter)

Things to keep an eye on for the home opener

 

Pregame:
Before the game, the Wings will honor the teams past as they will raise the Wings 6 championship banners fromt he years they won the title (1989, 1990, 1994, 1995, 1998, 2001).

The Wings will also raise the banners of the three retired numbers of the three greatest players in team history
Tom “Hollywood” Marechek (retired no. 42)
Dallas Eliuk (retired no. 35)
Jake Bergey (retired no. 66)

The Wings will also raise a welcome home banner solidifying Wells Fargo Center as the official home of the Wings.

The Wings will also have an official pre-game welcome back party in the Cure Insurance Club at Wells Fargo Center including $5 beer specials, half-priced appetizers at Campos and 50% off hot dogs, popcorn and sodas. The 50% off hot dogs, popcorn and sodas special will be available for fans through the end of the first quarter.

The Wings will also wear their new black home jerseys.

 

Post Game:
fans are invited to the official Wings Post Game Party presented by Yuengling in PJ Whelihan’s behind section 106. Fans can enjoy $5 Yuenglings and special appearances by players and Wings dancers.

 

Broadcast Information:
The Philadelphia Wings would announce that they will broadcast all of their home games & Select Road games with PHL 17. Booker Corrigan and Scott Gabrielsen will call the action, with Erin Dolan reporting on the sidelines.
