The Flyers are ready to rock and roll this coming season. Its only August, but the organization and their orange clad fans can’t wait to get this season started.

Things haven’t looked this good within the Flyers organization in terms of their prospects, well since Rocky ran up the steps of the Art Museum years ago. Their depth runs all the way through to their ECHL affiliate the Reading Royals.

Finally, a former Reading Royal has made a dream come true by signing an AHL contract with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Nick Luukko a Defenseman, has agreed to terms with the Phantom’s for the 2018-19 season. There are no current details of the contract.

Luukko was born on November 29, 1991, in West Chester, PA. He was drafted by the Flyers in the 6th round of the 2010 NHL Draft. Growing up Luukko was always around the rink, so he instantly fell in love with the sport. Luukko’s love and passion for the sport of hockey led him to the Reading Royals organization for the 2017-18 ECHL season. He razzled and dazzled by shutting down top lines all year. For the season, Luukko posted 5 goals, 16 assists, and a solid +2 rating in 67 games played.

The Purple fans of the Royals are dedicated and passionate, much like Flyers fans. Last year, Nick Luukko was featured on our prospects podcast, and that could be found on the site. Until then Royals, Phantoms, and Flyers fans, the future is bright in Flyer land.
