The Eagles have released their first injury report of the week. With just four days remaining until Super Bowl 52, it’s a firm indicator as to what we can expect the situation to be come the biggest game of all.

Full Participation in Practice

Wednesday

RB Jay Ajayi (ankle), DT Fletcher Cox (calf), LB Dannell Ellerbe (hamstring)

The big update here is that veteran linebacker Dannell Ellerbe has returned to practice as a full participant. After missing both playoff fixtures so far with a hamstring injury, the Eagles run defense has been without an instinctive linebacker with postseason experience. Najee Goode gave up a big touchdown in his absence but the combination of himself, Kamu Grugier-Hill and some interesting nickel packages have somewhat bandaged the wound. Having Ellerbe back will be crucial for such a young and healthy defense, who can lean on the reliability of the veteran.

Elsewhere, Timmy Jernigan missed practice again due to sickness, something that also meant he missed time in practice last week. He should be good to go on Sunday, but the Eagles will likely be careful with him in the days leading up to the event.

Fletcher Cox and Jay Ajayi were both full participants.

The Eagles look relatively healthy (or as healthy as can be) coming into this weekend and with no more significant injuries to key starters, it simply becomes a case of conditioning for the likes of Dannell Ellerbe. This Philadelphia outfit looks well poised to say the least.
