Last week, Elliott garnered the league’s attention after having to take over sole starting duties due to an injury to Michal Neuvirth. He’s continued his phenomenal play into this week, going 3-0-0 with a 1.31 GAA and .943 SV%.
Overall, Elliott is 12-6-6 on the season with a 2.61 GAA and .915 SV%. His promotion to #1 goalie rather than serving in a 1a-1b format with Neuvirth has seemed to boost the 10-year-veteran’s confidence. To Flyers fans, that may sound a bit familiar. The team’s long time starter prior to this season, Steve Mason, also seemed to perform at a higher level when serving as the unthreatened #1.
Since Neuvirth was hurt on November 28th, Elliott has went 6-1-0. He’s played a huge part in turning the Flyers’ playoff hopes around following their 10-game losing streak. Let’s hope Moose can continue his outstanding play tonight against the Los Angeles Kings.
