Joel Embiid was spotted running the streets of Philadelphia Monday night. Lyft driver Evan Bowen-Gaddy (@evanbowengaddy) had just accepted a ride in the area of Pine and 20th when he saw our modern day Rocky.
The most encouraging thing is that Embiid seemed to be jogging freely, without pain from the knee injury that’s been hanging over him for the past 10 months.
Hopefully we’ll be seeing more and more footage of Embiid moving freely, without discomfort. It’d be nice to know that the injury struggles that have haunted his early career may finally be behind him.
As of now, Embiid is not expected to play in the Sixers’ preseason opener at home against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.
