The Philadelphia Eagles announced some heartbreaking news earlier today. Former team executive and Eagles Hall of Fame inductee, Jim Gallagher, has sadly passed away.

Gallagher served as a team executive from 1949-1995 and is one of the longest-tenured team executives in franchise history. After being named personnel director in 1957, he would go on to serve in roles ranging from director of sales and marketing, to director of alumni relations and traveling secretary.

Philadelphia Eagles Owner and Chairman Jeffery Lurie released a heartfelt message via a press release, honoring the life of Gallagher who worked with 17 head coaches during his 46-year tenure with the team.

“Jim was one of the kindest and most remarkable men you could ever meet,” said Eagles Chairman/CEO Jeffrey Lurie. “His dedication to this organization went far beyond the 46 years he spent here, and his impact was far reaching. Everyone who was fortunate enough to meet Jim knows how much he loved the Eagles, but also how much he truly cared for and invested in the lives of others. To borrow one of his famous phrases, Jim was a ‘first-round pick.’ On behalf of the entire Eagles family, I would like to extend our condolences to the Gallaghers.”

We would like to extend our condolences, thoughts, and prayers to Jim’s family, friends, and the Philadelphia Eagles organization.
