It’s been a tough year for the Eagles, but an even tougher one for Lane Johnson. The Eagles right tackle was handed a 10-game suspension following his second PED violation, but it wasn’t quite as simple as taking the punishment and moving on.
It’s been a long, long fight for Johnson, who appealed his ban initially before missing the Detroit Lions game onward up until the penultimate game of the year. It wasn’t just the games he lost, but also $675k of salary, $1.5M of his signing bonus and perhaps most damaging, Johnson lost $25M in guaranteed money.
Johnson has stuck to his word that he unknowingly consumed an illegal amino acid, criticizing the system in which players are expected to use in order to avoid situations like this. That situation has now gone further, according to Albert Breer.
Eagles OT Lane Johnson has filed suit in federal court against the NFL and NFLPA. He's asked the court to vacate his penalties.
