It’s been a chaotic start to the day for the Philadelphia Eagles who were set to trade both Byron Maxwell and Kiko Alonso to the Miami Dolphins in what was expected to be a very lopsided trade.

Before the reports began to surface, we were the first on the scene proposing what the trade might consist of and as details continued to emerge, it turns out we were scarily close..

…until Byron Maxwell potentially potentially blew the entire trade apart. According to Les Bowen, Maxwell underwent his physical in Miami and told his doctor that he couldn’t bench press or complete pressups…which as Bowen alludes to is surprising considering how he told the Eagles he was fine at the end of last season.

As far as we are aware, Maxwell is still in Miami at the moment but the Dolphins are obviously very concerned and taking a much more conservative approach to the trade.

Maxwell missed two games at the end of last season after a sprained SC joint..it’s unclear at this stage if he’s fully healed or if he had any medical treatment for the injury..if he just tried to sleep it off then there’s a possibility he may not be fully healed.

This doesn’t only hold ramifications for the trade but for the Eagles if it falls through. The birds would then be stuck with a player on a huge deal, who doesn’t fit their system, who isn’t fully healthy and potentially lied to the team…not a good look.

The likeliness of a deal happening at this point is still fairly strong, but the chances of the Eagles moving up to the number 8 pick have drastically dropped. At this point the Eagles are likely going to be scrambling around looking to complete the deal and could well accept a lot less.
