After signing a five year extension earlier today, Tight-End Zach Ertz met with the media to talk all things Eagles. The 25 year old opened up about his decision to sign a five year deal with the birds and what it means to him.
Ertz didn't want to wait out to see how he played in his contract year. Wanted to be in Philly, was presented opportunity, took it.

Ertz emphasized that the athletes he admired growing up — Kobe and Jason Witten — played for the same team their whole careers.

Ertz: "When people think of great tight ends in Philly, I want to be the guy they think of.”

If these three snippets from Zach Berman don’t give you an insight into the mindset of Zach Ertz then it would be hard to find snippets that do. Ertz wants to be in Philadelphia, he wants to be an Eagle and he evidently loves his teammates around him.
Ertz: "I want to be in Philadelphia. I want to be here for a long time."
— Philadelphia Eagles (@Eagles) January 25, 2016
Ertz: I'm going to do whatever it takes to be successful and be the best player I can be.
— Philadelphia Eagles (@Eagles) January 25, 2016
Ertz on teammates: “I wouldn’t be here without Jordan Matthews pushing me each and every day. Brent Celek has been unbelievable."

Ertz was also asked about Sam Bradford’s future..his response was very interesting.
“I think he wants to be in Philadelphia. Whether he’s back here or not is none of my business. He’s going to do what’s best for him and the Eagles are going to do what’s best for us. At the end of the day, I think he wants to be here.”
Ertz went on to say;
“I look at the chemistry that Jordan, myself and Sam developed and I think that goes a long way. You guys saw the success first hand with Donovan. He was a staple on this team for a long time. When you’re able to have that continuity, I think it goes a long way.”
It’s clear to see that Zach shares a common mentality with some of the teams greatest players and under an Offensive Coordinator that helped guide Antonio Gates to his most single season touchdowns since 2004 in 2014, Planet Ertz..might be transcending into another galaxy
