It’s an exciting time to be an Eagles fan as speculation over who is going to replace Chip Kelly continues to grow. First we heard the news that Duce Staley has interviewed for the role and now according to a report on Pro Football Talk, the Eagles seem very set on one candidate.
The source has no connection to the Chicago Bears Offensive Coordinator but seems adamant that along with the Dolphins and the Browns, the Eagles are in pursuit.
This doesn’t come as a surprise seeing as the team have very swiftly interviewed running back coach Duce Staley to pass through “The Rooney Rule” and considering that their vacancy opened so soon, Lurie eyeing up Gase would be a fair assumption to make.
The report claims that Gase could technically be interviewed and hired as early as Monday. Gase has proven his ability to work with what he’s got. The contrast in Jay Cutler to Peyton Manning is tremendous and will only boost the chances of sweetening an Eagles deal.
Sam Bradford has thrown the most yards for the Eagles in a single season since McNabb in 2009 but has been used in a scheme that simply doesn’t suit him. If someone like Gase can give Jay Cutler a second coming, imagine what he can do to a player who’s already in the midst of one. The turnaround in Chicago is absolutely amazing..it’s that kind of achievement that will turn the heads of Jeffery Lurie who wants a Coach that embodies the passion of the city.
This isn’t the first time Gase’s name has popped up in recent days and it probably won’t be the last..but for all the latest updates on the Eagles and all Philadelphia sports teams, stay locked in or follow or twitter @PhiladelphiaSN
