The Eagles have signed an undrafted rookie free agent safety to their 10-man practice squad and released a cornerback.

24 year old Craig Bills is the man in question. The Brigham Young has had no former experience with an NFL team which makes this signing a little more interesting. Mike Lee is the man making way for the Eagles fifth safety having only joined the team a matter of weeks ago.

In his senior year, Bills  started in nine games, amassing one interception, two pass breakups, 0.5 tackles for loss and was third n total tackles on the team with 51.

You can watch highlights of Bills College career here:

His pro day wasn’t exactly bad either, it’s easy to see why Chip’s eyebrow was raised:

  • 40-yard dash – 4.50 seconds
  • 225 lb bench – 19 reps
  • Vertical jump – 33 inches
  • Broad jump – 112 inches
  • 20-yard shuttle – 4.42 seconds
  • 3-cone drill – 6.95 second

If he had ran at the combine, that time would have been the third fastest time out of every Safety who ran!  Bills is a very physical and hard hitting safety who isn’t afraid to make a tough tackle..you know, like Maxwell..(sarcasm) but seriously, Bills is a very tough man to have in the backfield and should Reynolds or Thurmond fall injured, Maragos is a special teams ace but struggled when lining up defensively. Bills would be able to come in and most likely make some hard hitting tackles that raise a few eyebrows.

Here’s how the Eagles practice squad currently look

OL Brett Boyko
OL Malcolm Bunche
CB Randall Evans
LB Brandon Hepburn
WR Freddie Martino
QB Stephen Morris
TE Chris Pantale
DE Travis Raciti
LB Deontae Skinner
S Craig Bills

**UPDATE** BILLS REPORTEDLY FAILED HIS PHYSICAL, MIKE LEE HAS BEEN RE-SIGNED TO THE PRACTICE SQUAD. THE EAGLES DID WORK OUT A SECOND CORNERBACK SO WE MAY WELL SEE ANOTHER MOVE WITHIN THE NEXT FEW DAYS.
