Changing the game..Halftime analysis: Eagles 0-13 Redskins

In arguably the most frustrating first half of the season, the Eagles once again went scoreless. They go into the half 13-0 down after conceding two field goals and a controversial 1-yd touchdown rush by Kirk Cousins..but the stats don’t tell the entire story.

For the most part, the Redskins have controlled the first half. The Washington Offense was on the field for 21 minutes…over an entire quarter. The Defense held strong however with some impressive playmaking from Eric Rowe and Nolan Carroll. But this is where the controversy began.

Carroll was flagged when batting down a would have been touchdown pass to give the Redskins a first down at the brink of the end-zone. The call itself was questionable but after failing to rush it in, Cousins fumbled the ball on second down before scooping it up and flailing into the endzone.

The Eagles were down by two possessions and yet again, nothing had gone well for the Offense. DeMarco Murray had a flash of brilliance early on with a huge run..but ultimately it was yet another three and out for the Eagles.

Then right at the end of the second quarter..like we predicted..Sam Bradford FINALLY aired out a deep pass to Nelson Agholor who hauled in a one handed catch for a huge gain. We had said all week long that the USC rookie was going to enjoy a breakout game and become Bradford’s favourite target for finding the confidence to air out a deep pass..no other site took the angle, no other site predicted it..we’re coming for the throne.

Anyway just moments later, Agholor then fumbled a one yard toss trick play and handed Washington possession of the ball once again….if that didn’t sum up the first half then a Caleb Sturgis missed field goal from 33 yards at the death most certainly did.

Oh, here’s not forgetting the injury woes. Byron Maxwell and Brandon Bair were sidelined early on and joined Mychal Kendricks with groin injuries. Moments later, Jason Peters joined that list to add to the Eagles problems.

Key stats:

Sam bradford: 5-10 74 yards
DeMarco Murray: 3 CAR 28 yards
Nelson Agholor: 1 REC 45 yards
Riley Cooper: lone catch
