Week three was the heaviest of the season by far when it came to injuries, with a few missing prior to the game and a couple more picking up minor knocks, here’s a quick status report on who practiced and who didn’t earlier today.
The biggest story was arguably the return of running back DeMarco Murray. Last years rushing leader sat out week three with a hamstring injury but returned to practice earlier today. There are no reports on how active he was, but a return to practice this early in the week is surely a promising sign. The decision on Sunday was said to be a gameday one, he should be active for the divisional showdown with the Redskins later this week.
Mychal Kendricks returned to practice today who like Murray, also sustained a hamstring injury. But like his teammate, he is also aiming to face the Redskins. Another player aiming to return for this Sunday is Cedric Thornton. Thornton had a hand injury that reportedly caused him to miss up to several weeks, but the defensive end is hopeful of an early recovery.
Whilst we’re on the Defensive side of things we have to mention Kiko Alonso. The linebacker has visited his doctor to get a second opinion on his knee sprain and therefore was not at practice today. Chris Maragos is expected to play on Sunday following an early exit at the MetLife but did not practice today. It’s said that Maragos picked up a knee contusion. The final Defenseman who didn’t practice today was Taylor hart.
Josh Huff also suffered a hamstring issue and was listed as inactive for week three. Huff rejoined his teammates at practice today..unlike fellow wide receiver Riley Cooper. Cooper left the Jets game early and despite a return, was still not at practice today but according to Bleeding Green Nation he was seen wearing a sleeve on his left leg.
The stories we already know about to round the day off are Cody Parkey and Andrew Gardner. A small update on the young kicker however, Parkey reportedly tore a muscle in his groin and that’s why he has now been placed on the IR list and why the Eagles have signed former Dolphins kicker Caleb Sturgis.
Andrew Gardner was placed on the season long list as well and the birds re-signed Julian Vandervelde to fill the void.
