The Eagles’ worst fears were recognised today following Jacorey Shepherd’s injury in yesterdays training camp. It was recently announced that The rookie Cornerback has torn his right ACL and was the favourite to take Brandon Boykins old role as a slot corner.
The injury was sustained when he collided with running back Darren Sproles after a play near the sideline. After staying down for a few minutes he was carted off the field but reportedly seen moving his leg on the back of the cart as they entered the tunnel.
Shepherd joins Linebacker Kiko Alonso on the current injured list as Alonso is still absent due to a concussion. Jerome Couplin is still out after having his appendix out late last week.
This does leave the birds with an open roster spot once he’s placed on Injured reserve for the season and it will be a position that needs addressing promptly. With Carroll lining up alongside Rowe in nickel situation, Shepherd was set to rack up minutes this season unless the sixth round pick suffered an injury. Hopefully we see him back on the field soon.
