BREAKING: Ben Revere Traded to Blue Jays

After the Hamels saga and then the Diekman news, we knew the Phillies were not quite done. Ben Revere had been rumoured to be on the Blue Jays radar and the move has just been confirmed just 45 minutes before the trade deadline.

The 27 year old sprung interest from the Orioles and the Jays but it was Toronto who upped their game to pick up the speedster. Sources have began reporting that the Phils will receive two pitching prospects in exchange for the left handed batter, Jimmy Cordero and Alberto Tirado.

Revere will take over in left field for Toronto just days after the Phils pulled out a surprise victory in Canada and will probably move into the leadoff position. With such an outstanding Offense ahead of him, Revere should fly after having two vastly underrated seasons in Philly.

The six-year veteran had his best season last year where he led the league in hits (184). At the end of he season he had .306 with two home runs and 28 RBI. Only eight flyouts and some tenacious running made him a feared player from all teams, yet he never really received the credit he deserved.

He has played in 96 games for the Phils this year and at a .298 average with one home run to his name. He could end the season with yet again another career high, but this time..it will be for a side with 50 wins to their name.
