That’s two out of three for Ron Hextall. First Couturier and now Jakub Voracek. The Philadelphia Flyers announced recently that they have agreed a contract with right wing Jakub Voracek for a multi year extension. The deal is reported to last a HUGE 8-years and be worth $66 million.
Last year marked the 6″2 star’s seventh year in the league and he made it a special one. Leading the Flyers with a total of 81 points whilst scoring 22 goals and picking up 59 assists, a stat that put him second in the league. His 81 points ranked him fourth in the league.
If that wasn’t impressive enough, at the end of last year, Voracek was awarded the Bobby Clarke Trophy and recognised as the team’s MVP. His second of his Flyers tenure. He also became the first Flyers player to earn an All-Star honor since 2000!
In his seven season career, the 25 year old has racked up 124 goals and 248 assists. Since his arrival in the league as the 7th overall pick in the 2007 NHL Draft, he has caught attention wherever he goes. Big Hexy continues to draw praises from Broadstreet fans across the globe as his ways of reducing the salary cap woes yet keeping the star talent have been nothing short of commendable. The question is, will Schenn become the third player to earn an extension?
