Who’s leading the charge to be the Eagles #1 Receiver?

The Philadelphia Eagle have a few very intense position battles brewing this year. With all eyes on the Quarterback war as we head towards training camp, the wide receiver battle should also bring in close attention. With the last of Andy Reid’s franchise Receivers now having departed the squad, the rotation should be very different this season. But the question is, who is going to become the new number one receiver?

The newest Eagle Nelson Agholor is the name on many peoples lips. With a few NFL experts saying that Agholor does not just have the potential to be Eagles #1 but also the best receiver in the league, it’s obvious that this years first round pick has tremendous potential. He has been explosive in OTA’s and has already shown glimpses of how quick he truly is.

The competition he is up against however is where the war begins as the likely number one receiver is going to be Jordan Matthews considering his rookie season success. Matthews struck up a great partnership with Sanchez and is looking for a breakout year. However that leaves the number two spot open for the taking and Agholor’s eyes are fixed upon it.

For the number two spot, Agholor will be competing with Josh Huff and Riley Cooper. Miles Austin is also an outside shot and despite being unable to prove his effectiveness on the field recently due to injury, Austin’s leadership in the locker room is above and beyond. During minicamp Austin began to show real promise, which has left the question over who is going to be number two wide open.

We will be going into a LOT more depth on each of these players in the coming days to truly evaluate their predicted roster spots, but as of right now we think it may look something like this..

1. Jordan Matthews

2. Riley Cooper

3. Nelson Agholor

4. Josh Huff

It’s important to remember that this is all speculation. Kelly may not have a designated target receiver and regard them all equally. He may rotate so often that it’s unclear to see who the leading Receiver truly is. All we know is that Nelson Agholor is coming and it may only a matter of time before he establishes himself as one of the best Eagles receivers to grace the field.
