So, here we are. 10 days later we have run through nine of the most important players that the Eagles need to step up to the plate in 2015. But now it’s time for the big one, the most critical player going into next season is…
Sam Bradford/Tim Tebow/ Whoever else Chip Kelly Signs to start as Quarterback….
Since we can’t really say for definite who will make it into the final squad following the practice, we just decided to make it a position instead of a player.
Nick Foles threw 27 touchdowns to two interceptions just two season ago. He now finds him self in St Louis as he trades places with Sam Bradford.
The new Eagles commander is coming off his second season with an ACL tear but has shown glimmers of hope for the limited time he has remained healthy. He received rookie of the year honors back in 2010 The former first overall pick earned Rookie of the Year honors back in 2010, the numbers he put up that year can’t be forgotten.
However for Bradford to succeed here, he will need to remain healthy. Philly were sitting smugly with a 6-2 record before Nick Foles broke his collarbone. After that the season somewhat took a downward spiral with Sanchez picking up a 4-4 record. What good is a Ferrari without an engine or a plane without a propeller? The Chip Kelly offense is a thing of beauty but without the right man driving it, it loses that sparkle. It gives the opposing defense hope and balance…the last things you’d want to see!
The Philadelphia Eagles’ playoff hopes firmly rest on Bradford..or Tebow..or Sanchez..or McNabb? (Hey, this is Chip after all..). Either way, for a few reasons Bradford needs to have a career defining season in Philly. It’s probably easier to list them..
1) If Bradford falls injured, it ruins Chips’ scouting credibility and off-season choices.
2) If Foles out-performs Bradford, the result will be identical to number one
3) A third consecutive injury prone season could well end his career
4) Without the driver, the car won’t move. Philly NEED a reliable arm and one that is a natural leader
5) There is now currently more competition than ever as the QB position has turned into a dog-eat-dog scenario. It may get even more bizarre on draft night..which means one bad performance could see you eaten by the wolves
6)The fans. If Bradford steps onto the field and shines, he will become a hero and will earn the respect of Eagles fans. Something that is VERY hard to earn back once lost.
The Eagles NEED Bradford’s arm and versatility. Bradford NEEDS to stay healthy, the fans NEED the playoffs.
