In a press conference earlier today, GM Ron Hextall announced the future of breakout star Michael Del-Zotto.
“We’ll re-sign him. He’s restricted. There’s no rush.” said Hextall to the media. Which basically means that he can’t go anywhere, so it’s just a case of when his agents and the board sit down to agree terms. The 24 year old has already expressed his eagerness to remain in Philadelphia following a fantastic year, completely opposing the trend of inconsistency that the Flyers displayed.
As an unrestricted free agent coming out of his Nashville season, Del Zotto saw the other side of the fence..and probably hated the view A player graded as one of the futures brightest talents lingered on the market for more than a month. Either way, he ended up in Philly and he’s here to stay by the looks of things.
Del Zotto racked up 29 points in 59 games and spent a lot of time on the Flyers’ top penalty-killing unit . Averaging nearly 22 minutes per game, he has proved game in and game out that he has the talent to stay. This year he produced points at the second best rate of his career.
