After much speculation, Eagles defensive end Cedric Thornton officially signed with the team for a further year on Monday.
Thornton was a restricted free agent, so it was never really a case of if but when. He is set to earn $2.356 million in 2015 under the clauses of the deal.
Thornton, who made his impact in year two as a bird has become a force to be reckoned with, ended 2013 with 60 tackles, a sack, a safety, a forced fumble and two passes defended. 2014 was equally impressive as he racked up 52 tackles, three fumble recoveries including a returned touchdown, a sack and two passes defended.
However after this season, the 26 year old will become a free agent. Making this upcoming season a critical one for the 6-foot-4, 309-pound star.
