With 13 players participating at Wednesday’s training session, the Union squad isn’t exactly brimming in numbers. But the potential return of striker C.J Sapong will bring a silver lining to Union Fans.
Sapong has not started a game since the opening fixture where he suffered a concussion and facial fracture. However he will start against former team, Kansas City if he’s fully recovered.
The Union have a couple of more practices before they depart for Kansas on Saturday, so the coaching staff have some breathing room to decide on if they will bring Sapong, one of the team’s most important acquisitions.
Sapong scored 20 goals in his four seasons with former team SKC, and started his first game with the Union on March 7th before leaving following an elbow to the head.
With Conor Casey still injured and Christian Maidana also missing, it’s the perfect time for Sapong to make his return to the squad. Pfeffer is still missing following his red card as is Fred. With the attacking section of the team looking extremely thinly spread, some much needed support for Aristeguieta will be appreciated hugely.
