Just ten games remain for the Flyers to finish their season, a season that will be their second in three without playoff hockey. It’s been a rollercoaster of a season for fans and the last few weeks have seen several loop de loops! Some players are fighting for their place in the team next year, whilst others are envisioning a future away from Philly. These final 10 games are going to be crucial for all parties.
The Flyers roll into Calgary out of playoff contention and in mixed spirits. Many will say the end of the season came following the 302 defeat against Boston. A match where the repercussions are still echoing around the Wells Fargo Center. The positive spirits being that Defensemen Michael Del Zotto is making his return following his injury six games ago. Read is also returning to the club after missing two games to spend time with his wife and new child.
Berube is expected to rotate Jakub Voracek on the fourth line since he has seven defensemen in the team with the inclusion of Del Zotto. Voracek has been in fine form as of late so resting him for the latter games is by no mean a bad thing.
With the wind taken out of the Flyers sails, not many people know what to expect. If the team will play their hearts out and go for a clattering win like they did against Detroit or if they’ll roll over and leave all the work to exceptional Goaltender Steve Mason.
But with a Flyers team skating for no more than just bragging rights knowing that yet again there will be no post season Hockey, can they end the season on a high by producing some top quality Hockey in the final ten? It all starts tonight against the games.
