Newly tagged Free-agent experienced running back Frank Gore has told numerous personnel that he will sign for his new team in the coming days…the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles, who shocked the world by releasing LeSean McCoy early last week are expecting to replace him with Gore, with the contract expected to be three-year deal in which $7.5 million in the first two years is guaranteed.
Gore’s final pricetag, which the two teams still have to negotiate, is expected to be around half as much as the back who was named #5 in the NFL’s top players of 2014, LeSean McCoy.
The 32 year old five time pro bowler is the type of locker-room leader that Eagles coach Chip Kelly lives for. Gore is also coming off his fourth straight 1,000-yard rushing season, and has rushed for over 1,000 yards in eight of the past nine seasons. It’s not just his rushing characteristics that make Gore so valuable, but also his ability to become a great pass protector. Something the Eagles could have used a little more of last year.
