After what can only be described by fans as an embarrassing loss against Tampa university, the Phillies will be fielding a much stronger lineup for the Grapefruit League opener on Tuesday against the Yankees. Second baseman Chase Utley, however, will not play.
Echoes of 2011 haunt the Phillies and many will be hoping that history won’t repeat itself. According to Phillies officials, that won’t be the case. They have been quoted as saying that the 36-year-old veteran is healing up a sprained right ankle suffered in a mid-January workout.
Utley has however still been going through workouts, both in the field and at the plate. Which ring signs of promise that he may be back in action sooner than we first thought. Let’s hope!
