Eagles’ QB Jalen Hurts was the Super Bowl MVP last season, yet his status as one of the National Football League’s best quarterbacks remains a huge debate. While his recent exploits have swayed a few fans and analysts to his side, some have amplified his deficiencies over his evident development in recent times. In the latest release of the NFL Top 100 players, Jalen Hurts was ranked 19th, featuring on the esteemed list with seven other players from Philly.

Annually, players from teams in the two conferences of the National Football League are made to vote and rank the top 100 players in the league. The list, which is released over two months in ascending order, is released in groups of ten players each. The latest release from position 20-15 featured Eagles’ quarterback Jalen Hurts at 19th, with Detroit Lions’ Amon-Ra St. Brown behind him at 20th, and Houston Texas’ Derek Stingley Jr., New York Giant’s Dexter Lawrence, San Francisco 49ers’ Fred Warner, and Detroit Lions’ Jared Goff, ranked 18th to 15th respectively.
Featuring in the top 20, Hurts averaged 193.5 passing yards per outing, threw 18 touchdowns, ran for 630 yards on 150 attempts with 14 touchdowns, and accumulated 42.0 yards per game during the regular season, and had 726 passing yards, six touchdowns and 71.4 passing completion percentage. In the comments released on Jalen Hurts in the latest rankings on NFL’s official website, he wasn’t only lauded for his top 20 finish, his drastic revival from a turbulent 2023 season.
“After a crushing collapse at the end of the 2023 season, Hurts and the Eagles used their disappointing finish as motivation for the 2024 campaign, and that fire and determination led them all the way back to the Super Bowl, this time sealing the deal on the biggest stage. The 40-22 drubbing of Kansas City kicked off early behind Hurts’ two passing touchdowns and one rushing TD, a performance which resulted in a Super Bowl MVP. Only the fifth QB in NFL history to start multiple Super Bowls before his 27th birthday, per NFL Pro, Hurts has certainly earned his place on this ranking with his playoff results.”

While the list isn’t over, with the rest of the positions set to be released between now and September 1st, seven other Eagles players have been ranked so far among the top 100. Eagles’ offensive tackle Lane Johnson comes next after Jalen Hurts at the 23rd position, while linebacker Zack Baun follows closely behind at 26th. A.J Brown is also ranked among the top 30 at 29th.
Jalen Carter and Quinyon Mitchell are both ranked among the top 50 players, at 43rd and 49th respectively. On the list, Cooper DeJean and Jordan Mailata are two other Eagles players in the top 100, sitting at the 6th and 69th positions. With Saquon Barkley still missing in the list, the Eagles will be expecting another addition in the top 15, and possibly in the top 10.
