The Philadelphia Eagles led by General Manager Howie Roseman are in a dynasty window or pretty close to entering one. Super Bowl appearances in two of the last three years, a pair of Lombardi Trophies nestled in the trophy case at Lincoln Financial Field in less than a decade and the firepower to make multiple runs with a star-studded roster.
Roseman’s job is to build the best 70-man roster. Of course, you have 53 players who make the team, but also 17 that will round out the practice squad. The 17-man roster is vital for providing depth and to develop players that are not quite ready to make the leap to the roster that suits up each week.
Defensive tackle Gabe Hall is one of the most recent success stories from the practice squad for Philadelphia. This year, he played himself on to the team as a rotational defensive lineman. Who could potentially join Hall this year or in the near future?

Looking at that collective group, a few stand out.
Starting with Green. The Eagles acquired the former 15th overall pick by Houston in 2022 when they traded C.J. Gardner-Johnson. The 6-foot-4, 323-pound offensive lineman dealt with an injury keeping him out most of training camp, but the Eagles brought him back in hopes that Jeff Stoutland can tap into the potential Green showed when he played at Texas A&M.
Patrick Johnson impressed many during training camp and in preseason and many were hoping that he would stay with the team in some capacity. A seventh-round pick by the Eagles in 2021, he resigned with the Eagles this offseason after spending time with the Giants last season.
McCord was an expected cut, especially when the Eagles traded for Sam Howell earlier in the week. However, some thought perhaps another team might take a chance on a waiver claim on the rookie from Syracuse. Instead, the former St. Joe’s Prep standout will remain with the team who drafted him in the sixth-round of this year’s draft to develop him after he led the FBS with an ACC-record 4,779 passing yards.
Powell-Ryland had an underwhelming training camp and preseason, but his numbers in college are too gaudy to pass up just yet. At Florida and Virigina Tech, he appeared in 52 games making 29 starts with 41.5 tackles for a loss and 30 sacks with 16 of them coming last season with the Hokies which was good for third-most in the FBS.
Ricks has the most experience on the PS in terms of being on the 53-man roster playing in 23 games over the last two seasons.

Eagles’ Practice Updates
Some quick updates from the team’s practice earlier Wednesday include Landon Dickerson (meniscus surgery) and A.J. Brown (hamstring) both suited up and practiced which is great news for the team as they prepare for the season opener against Dallas in just eight days. Dickerson injured his meniscus in the team’s public practice at Lincoln Financial Field back on August 10 while Brown has missed majority of camp dealing with his hamstring.
The Eagles kickoff the season at home on Thursday, Sept. 4 at 8:20 p.m.
