Philadelphia Eagles defensive back Quinyon Mitchell partnered with Dick’s Sporting Goods in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, to provide an exciting shopping experience for 10 local football players on Tuesday, August 26. The Super Bowl LIX Champion helped a select group of the Bellmawr Purple Eagles gear up for the new season(s), with new gloves, cleats, and shoulder pads filling the bags of the athletes in a back-to-school shopping experience.
“It means a lot to the community,” Mitchell told Philly Sports Network. “Just come back and give back. I was once a kid in those same shoes. It’s important for both of us, for me and the kids, to hang around, talk about football, and talk about life.”
Many of the athletes selected to spend a part of the $150 Dick’s Sporting Goods gift card on the totally essential Eagles mini helmet, which was shortly to be inscribed with a Sharpie by #27. “Whatever they need, I’ll sign on,” Mitchell chuckled. “I’m willing to do that.”
The Purple Eagles are members of the West Jersey Youth Football League (WJYFL), a collection of 16 youth football teams in the South Jersey area with four weight classes for athletes. Bellmawr competes in the South Division alongside teams from Haddon Township, Palmyra, Oaklyn, Westville, Moorestown, and Pitman. Bellmawr won three of the four football divisions (90 lbs., 125 lbs., and 160 lbs.) with undefeated records in 2024, while the 110-pound squad had a forgettable 3-5 campaign last year.

Quinyon looking forward to year 2 with the Eagles
With Eagles Training Camp closing near the end of last week, Mitchell said he’s itching to get back to playing football regularly. “I’m just looking forward to see how the team comes [together],” Mitchell said. “Just taking everything one day at a time, growing close to each other every day, and ready to get back to it.” The sophomore NFL defensive back won’t have to wait much longer to put on the pads with the Eagles’ home opener against the Dallas Cowboys right around the corner on September 4.
