The Philadelphia Eagles aren’t far away from wrapping up their 2025 Training Camp, making every practice vital to those on the roster bubble. Unfortunately for many, today’s workout was one of attrition and conservativeness on behalf of the Birds.
Eagles Injury report
Deep breath. There’s two ways of looking at this. One – it’s concerning that there are enough names here to make a rendition of ‘We didn’t start the fire’. But secondly, encouraging that the Eagles are keen to keep players away from harms way, especially those with lingering knocks.
Andrew DiCecco later clarified this, stating that the Eagles are simply veering on the side of caution as week 1 draws near, and the importance of a healthy roster grows.
In less encouraging news, the Eagles suffered two notable scares today. Second-round rookie, Andrew Mukuba, left practice after picking up what looked to be a hamstring injury. This comes just days after his mammoth pick-6 against the Browns in preseason. Hopefully, this is nothing too severe and a strain that can be recovered from promptly.
Elsewhere, WR Johnny Wilson was carted off the field. The young playmaker put up 73 yards in the preseason opener and had a very encouraging rookie campaign in 2024. His spot on the roster was always assumed to be somewhat safe, and if that’s now in jeopardy because of an injury so late into Camp, it would be heartbreaking. Hopefully, it’s nothing too serious.

And to end with some positive news, A.J Brown was seen working on the field away from his teammates as he continues to recover from his own hamstring setback. It’s always great to see A.J back out there and we can assume he’ll be ready for the start of the new season.
John Metchie III speaks
Newly-acquired wideout John Metchie was dropped straight into the deep end. With Smitty and A.J both sidelined, and now Johnny Wilson likely out for some time, Metchie has been thrust straight into the spotlight.
He was seen returning punts down at the NovaCare Complex today. He hasn’t yet undertaken this role at the NFL level, but it’s interesting to see the Eagles already exploring the different ways they can use his skillset.
He spoke with reporters after practice and mentioned that he simply wants to come in and contribute. The mindset appears to be there, and he’ll likely get a fair shot during the preseason finale so the Eagles can really see what they have in him.
CB2 battle
The cornerback 2 battle has not panned out how many expected. Both Adoree Jackson and Kelee Ringo have left a lot of meat on the bone this Summer (which is somewhat understandable against such a lethal receiving corps), and we still have no clear-cut winner.
However, it was Jackson who got the nod with the starters in 11-on-11 drills today and made a few positive plays. With only one preseason game left, and the Eagles not really wanting to have starters out there, these practices could be critical in deciding the victor.
