The Philadelphia Eagles were back in action for Training Camp practice #9 of the offseason. With only a few days between now and the preseason opener, things are certainly heating up. The practice ran close to 2 hours (per Martin Frank) and the team made use of every second they had available.
Eagles injury report
Jihaad Campbell and DeVonta Smith were both taken off of the injury report today, although Campbell was working his way into action from the first snap of camp. A.J Brown missed another day due to a hamstring setback, and Terrace Marshall is still absent with a knee injury. The real question was whether or not one of the other wideouts could take advantage of some enhanced reps.
Second-year OG Trevor Keegan was absent with a back injury, and Byron Young joined the list with a groin setback.
A slightly worrying sight saw likely-starting RG, Tyler Steen, go down before walking off the field. He did get up and walk off the field with what appeared to be a ‘nut shot’ according to Jimmy Kempski, so hopefully nothing too severe.
And in other news, Kenyon Green won the ‘first puke of camp’ award.
Living on the EDGE
We’ve heard a lot about Josh Uche over the last few days. The former Pats and Chiefs pass-rusher is really beginning to find his footing with the Eagles, which is great news for a position pretty light on long-term depth behind Nolan Smith.

The Eagles love a savvy veteran signing and both Uche and Ojulari ticked that box, with the former looking to be the more prominent once the regular season rolls around.
Ojomo’s ascent
Speaking of the defensive line, another big day for Moro Ojomo leaves him in very good stead to secure the DT3 spot. The former 7th-round pick has been one of the real winners of the Summer so far and has continued to improve since first getting a taste of defensive action. He could become one of the preseason’s breakout stars if this momentum continues.
Let him cook
Well, one wideout who took advantage of a lighter depth chart was none other than Elijah Cooks, who is vying for this years’ ‘Paul Turner‘ award. The fact that reporters in attendance almost bank on there being one big play per day from the former UDFA speaks volumes, and he’s putting himself in a great spot to mark the 53-man roster.
Quintanamo Bay
Unsurprisingly, Quinyon Mitchell has been impressive today. After being named #49 in the NFL top 100 players, the second-year corner decided to reinforce that consensus by notching his second pick of camp. Good stuff from Philly’s CB1.
QB3 battle heating up
The battle between Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Tanner McKee will be a real focus for fans in preseason, and the stakes are only rising as camp progresses. DTR hitting a deep touchdown pass today certainly tilts the scales in his favor while Tanner McKee reported struggled on a few plays and had a miscommunication with Anias Smith. It will be interesting to see how this develops on Thursday night.
