The 2025 Gold Cup has been an entertaining tournament. Some of the region’s giants have lived up to expectations, while others have faltered; this has even allowed some underdogs to go on deep runs. Now, it’s time for the final, where the USA and Mexico will go head to head yet again, but how did the semifinals play out?

Gold Cup 2025 Semifinals
USA 2 – 1 Guatemala
The USA played a tightly contested game with underdog Guatemala. It looked like the USMNT would dominate the game, getting two goals in the first 15 minutes, but Guatemala wouldn’t go down without a fight. Read more on this match that ended 2-1 in favor of the USMNT below.

Mexico 1 – 0 Honduras
Mexico started this Gold Cup by conceding two goals in a close 3-2 win. Since then, they have not allowed a goal at this tournament. They have been the overwhelming favorites and defending champions, but they still don’t seem perfect, even with their good form. Costa Rica took them to the brink in a 0-0 group stage game, and Honduras looked like the better team in the semifinals, but Mexico has still made it to the final.
Raul Jiménez’s lone goal propelled Mexico into the final over Honduras. Now they look to win their unprecedented 10th Gold Cup final over a USA side with all sorts of issues. Could we see Mexico cruise to yet another win, or will it be a bit closer as it has been for them against the bigger teams at this tournament?

USA vs Mexico in the 2025 Gold Cup Final!
Tonight, the rivalry between the USA and Mexico will be renewed! This time, it will be in the Gold Cup final, a place where the two have met seven previous times. Mexico has won five, and the USMNT has claimed two. Who will come out on top this time around?
The USMNT is playing with another “B/C Team,” while Mexico has its top team. Could we see a redo of 2021 where the USA beat Mexico in similar circumstances? We will have to wait and see, but one thing is for sure: no matter who wins, there will be two rising stars to watch in this one. Gilberto Mora is a 16-year-old starter for Mexico who has been the best player on the pitch for Mexico throughout the tournament. Diego Luna has had a meteoric rise for the USA and looks to lead their line en route to a Gold Cup win.
Don’t miss these players and the action tonight as we see who can win the 2025 Gold Cup!
