June 25 was a big day for former Baylor standout VJ Edgecombe. Not only was he drafted third overall by the Sixers, but it was also announced that he signed a multi-year endorsement deal with Adidas.
Edgecombe was signed along with fellow lottery pick Jeremiah Fears to be the future faces of Adidas basketball.
Edgecombe’s versatility and two-way tenacity had him rise up the draft board, and he was rewarded with joining an already talented Adidas basketball roster. The young wing joins the likes of NBA stars James Harden, Damian Lillard, Donovan Mitchell, and Anthony Edwards.
All of the aforementioned players have very popular signature shoes. It will be interesting to see what Edgecombe chooses to wear on the court, with the AE1 and Harden Vol. 9 the most likely candidates.
Adidas has taken chances on young players with potential in the past (Donovan Mitchell and Trae Young), and they are betting on VJ Edgecombe becoming their star.
