With the help of Charles Barkley announcing the Philadelphia Flyers‘ 6th overall pick, the orange and black selected right winger Porter Martone.
The 6-foot-3, 18-year-old offers a lot of value. While Boston College center James Hagens was still available, Philadelphia
seemed to be pleased that Martone was available as well. When talking with Danny Briere, Martone stated that he has a Claude Giroux jersey in his basement, as he grew up a Flyers fan.
On the ESPN broadcast, Martone stated that this was a “dream come true.” He went on to state that he took a trip with his dad on his birthday to Philly to watch a Flyers game, and it was one of the coolest things he’s done. Martone, who is from Peterborough, ONT, is able to come play for the team he’s a fan of.
