The 2025 MLS All-Star Game is taking place in just about a month, as the MLS All-Stars are set to take on the Liga MX All-Stars for the second consecutive year.

Last year’s result saw the Liga MX All-Stars defeat the MLS All-Stars by a score of 4-1, with the lone MLS goal coming from Cucho Hernández. This year’s matchup will take place on July 23, 2025 in the home of Austin FC, Q2 Stadium. Major League Soccer announced the roster for the match on Wednesday night, and the Union will have two representatives take place in the match.

Two Union Players Selected to MLS All-Star Game

For the first time since the 2023 MLS All-Star Game, the Philadelphia Union will have participants in the event. Forward Tai Baribo and defender Jakob Glesnes will be representing the club, as the MLS All-Stars will be looking for their first win in the match since 2022. Both of these players have had fantastic starts to the season, and are fully deserved in their selections to the match.

Tai Baribo has had a phenomenal start to life under Bradley Carnell, scoring 13 goals in just 16 appearances during the MLS season. Ever since replacing Julian Carranza when he left for Feyenoord, Baribo has shown that he can be the number one scoring option for the club, and he has done just that. The Israeli already has four multi-goal matches this season, becoming the first Union player to ever accomplish that feat. This is Tai’s first ever All-Star selection, and he will be looking to continue to add more as he continues to perform well in Major League Soccer.

The second selection for the Union is none other than defender Jakob Glesnes. The Union defense has allowed the second least goals in the entire league with 19, only trailing the New England Revolution who have only conceded 18.

This will be Glesnes’s third career selection to the All-Star Game, with the other appearances being in 2022 and 2023. During the 2025 season, Glesnes has been an important part of Bradley Carnell’s backline, as the club was looking to replace the hole of Jack Elliott, along with the injury of Ian Glavinovich.

The Norwegian has appeared in 18 matches, starting in 17 of them, helping contribute to the 8 clean sheets that the Union has had so far this season. In addition to the announcement of the All-Star selection, Glesnes made his 200th start in all competitions for the Union last night when he started against the Chicago FIre. Congrats to Jakob on this achievement!

As stated earlier, the 2025 MLS All-Star Game will take place on July 23, 2025 at Q2 Stadium, the home of Austin FC. Make sure to tune in as both Tai Baribo and Jakob Glesnes will look to make an impact and help the MLS All-Stars get their first win since 2022!
