The 2025 NHL Draft is this weekend. The first round will take place on Friday night, and rounds 2-7 will take place on Saturday.
The Philadelphia Flyers own 10 picks in total entering the draft. Out of those 10 picks, six are in the first two rounds. The Flyers originally had 11 picks, but their 45th overall selection was traded to the Anaheim Ducks to help acquire Trevor Zegras on Monday.
The rumor mill will only intensify as Friday approaches. The Flyers improved their center depth by acquiring Zegras, but there is a lot more work to be done, and that will carry into the draft.
First Round
6th overall: James Hagens
Position: C
Shot: Left
Height: 5’11”
Weight: 185 lbs
Country: United States
Team: Boston College (NCAA)
James Hagens seemed like a lock to go in the top three just last year, but now there’s a chance he can slide out of the top five. With Brady Martin’s stock rising over the previous few months, along with Caleb Desnoyers, there’s a real possibility now those two players are picked in the top five.
If that happens, then James Hagens has a real chance of falling into the Flyers’ lap at six. He projects to be a strong top-six center at the NHL level and draws comparisons to Jack Hughes. He would be the perfect center for the Flyers’ future.

22nd overall: Daniil Prokhorov
Position: RW
Shot: Left
Height: 6’5″
Weight: 218 lbs
Country: Russia
Team: MHK Dynamo St. Petersburg (MHL)
Daniil Prokhorov is one of the best Russian prospects in this year’s draft class, if not the best. He stands at 6’5″ and weighs in around 218 lbs. He’s a massive player who skates fast and is overall hard to play against.
Prokhorov also has a knack for scoring goals. He scored 20 goals in 43 games with MHK Dynamo St. Petersburg during the 2024-25 season. Prokhorov would also boost the Flyers in the size department, having the fourth shortest team in the league and also the lightest.
31st overall: Henry Brzustewicz
Position: D
Shot: Left
Height: 6’1″
Weight: 194 lbs
Country: United States
Team: London Knights (OHL)
Henry Brzustewicz is a steady two-way, right-handed shot defenseman for the London Knights. Coming off a season helping London win the Memorial Cup, Brzustewicz recorded 42 points (10G, 32A) in 67 regular-season games.
Brzustewicz is a smart puck-mover with a keen eye for passing. He’s also a smooth skater and can jump into or lead a rush into the offensive zone. He projects to be a reliable top-four defenseman at the NHL level and is familiar with other Flyers prospects Oliver Bonk and Denver Barkey.
Second Round
36th overall: Simon Wang
Position: D
Shot: Left
Height: 6’6″
Weight: 209 lbs
Country: Canada
Team: Oshawa Generals (OHL)
The Flyers go for another defenseman early in the second round with Simon Wang. Wang split time with King Rebellion of the OJHL and the Oshawa Generals of the OHL during the 2024-25 season. With King Rebellion, he scored 22 points (4G, 18A) in 38 games. With Oshawa, he recorded two assists in 32 games. Wang will play another season in Oshawa in 2025-26 before he leaves for Boston University in 2026-27.
Wang is an incredible skater given his large frame. He also possesses high hockey-IQ with his defensive and offensive capabilities. Wang is an enticing prospect and can make history being the second ever China-born player selected in the NHL Draft.
40th overall: Cole McKinney
Position: C
Shot: Right
Height: 6’0″
Weight: 201 lbs
Country: United States
Team: USNTDP (NTDP)
Cole McKinney is a USNTDP product and is committed to the University of Michigan for 2025-26. He scored 61 points (27G, 34A) in 60 games for the USNTDP in the NTDP and five points (3G, 2A) with USA and the U18 World Junior Championship.
McKinney is a reliable playmaking center. He doesn’t make any real highlight plays, but is a smooth passer and uses his creativity to set up scoring chances. McKinney is also mature in the defensive zone. He was the leading scorer in the NTDP and can slot in well in a middle-six role at the NHL level.
48th overall: Jack Ivankovic
Position: G
Catches: Left
Height: 6’0″
Weight: 178 lbs
Team: Brampton Steelheads (OHL)
Jack Ivankovic is the second-highest rated goalie in this year’s draft class behind Joshua Ravensbergen. In 2024-25 with the Brampton Steelheads, Ivankovic posted a 25-12-5 record alongside a 1.85 goals against average and a .903 save percentage. He was also the backup goalie at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship and is committed to the University of Michigan for 2025-26.
Ivankovic capped off a strong season with Brampton by leading Canada to a gold medal at the 2025 IIHF World U18 Championship. The Flyers’ goaltending tandem/trio in 2024-25 was brutal, but there are some good prospects in the pipeline. It’s always good to keep drafting goalies.
