Miami comes back to earn a point against Union

It looked like the Union would win three points against Miami, but Lionel Messi and Telasco Segovia said otherwise.

The Union had a 3-1 lead entering the 87th minute thanks to a brace from MLS Golden Boot leader Tai Baribo, but then Messi brought the match to within one from a free kick goalazo, and then Segovia equalized in the 90+5′.

With both teams picking up one point each, the Union remain at the top of MLS’s East, and Miami slid down one spot to seventh after NYCFC jumped them.

Atlanta United shocks FC Cincinnati

On MLS Sunday Night Soccer, Atlanta United pulled out a 4-2 win over FC Cincinnati. Atlanta started hot, scoring in the 15th and 20th minutes to enter the second half with a 2-0 lead.

Miles Robinson scored for Cincinnati in the 49th minute to bring the match to within one, but Bartosz Slisz converted for Atlanta in the 66th minute. Gerardo Valenzuela scored in the 70th minute for Cincinnati to hopefully start another potential comeback, but Atlanta answered in the 90+3′ to put the match away.

Lozano scores late goal in win over LA Galaxy

It looked like the LA Galaxy were on their way to picking up a point against San Diego FC. Still, Chucky Lozano scored in the 90+5′ to prevent the Galaxy from feeling any sense of accomplishment against one of the West’s powerhouses.

Diego Fagundez scored first for LA in the 40th minute, but their lead was short-lived as Luca de la Torre equalized one minute later.

It wasn’t until the 90+5′ that another goal was scored, and it was by Chucky Lozano. A misguided pass from the Galaxy in the midfield allowed San Diego to counter, and Lozano scored the winner.

Columbus slides to fifth after loss to Charlotte

A brace from Patrick Agyemang helped lead Charlotte FC to a 3-2 win over the Columbus Crew. Agyemang picked up his brace in five minutes in the first half.

Columbus then equalized in the 65th minute until Pep Biel scored the go-ahead goal in the 75th minute to give Charlotte the win. Columbus slid down to fifth in MLS’s East while Charlotte is eighth.

NYCFC moves into sixth with win over Chicago

NYCFC defeated a Chicago Fire side that played with nine men late in the second half, 3-1. Chicago scored first in the 19th minute, but NYCFC scored three consecutive goals in the second half to earn three points.

A controversial send-off for Chicago’s Dje Davilla in the 84th minute led to a penalty kick for NYCFC, and Alonso Martinez converted to seal the match.
