The second episode of “Exciting Mics,” the podcast hosted by Philadelphia Eagles’ Exciting Whites (Reed Blankenship and Cooper DeJean), featured NFL Offensive Player of the Year Saquon Barkley, who made one of the boldest claims about the 2025 Super Bowl winners.
Eagles RB Saquon Barkley makes firm statement
It was a record-breaking season for the Eagles running back, who had one of the most remarkable debut seasons in the history of the National Football League, rushing for a franchise-record 2,005 yards—101 yards shy of breaking Eric Dickerson’s single-season league record.
He also ran for an NFL record 2,504 yards in both the regular season and the playoffs, breaking Terrell Davis’ record of 2,476. He made such a huge difference in the Eagles team with his 15 touchdowns, including seven on runs of at least 60 yards.
Perhaps, out of a rough overestimation of the team’s performance based on his own epic season, a careless evaluation of the Eagles’ regular season and Super Bowl run, or just a genuine comment on where he felt the Philadelphians truly ranked in the league’s all-time rankings, Saquon Barkley made a bold claim about the Eagles being among the top-five teams of all time.

“I firmly believe – when you look at our team that we had last year – I think we’re a top-5 team of all time,” Barkley confidently said to his teammates Reed Blankenship and Cooper DeJean’s, on their podcast, Exciting Mics.
“Like, if you really look at the season outside of the first four games, it was belt to ass. How dominant you guys were on defense and how dominant we were on offense and special teams, people don’t realize how great of a team that actually was.”
“I think we all just bought in. You hear the outside noise and expectation, we didn’t care how it looked. The one thing we care about is winning football games.” Saquon said when Blankenship mentioned the turning point of coming off of the bye week.
In the end, the Eagles went on to win the NFC Eastern Conference with a 14-3 record and topped it off with a win in each playoff game by at least six points and of course, the Lombardi Trophy.
In their own right, the Eagles were an exceptional team, but talking about the all time best NFL teams puts them up against arguably worthier contenders, like Brady’s 7-time-champion Patriots, the undefeated Dolphins, the 49ers, the throwback Bears, Cowboys teams or even their opponent at Super Bowl LIX, who were at the verge of winning the Vince Lombardi Trophy for the third time in a row.
Questions like this often attract relative answers. So, what do you think about Barkley’s claims? Are the Eagles worthy enough to be among the top five NFL teams of all time? Share your answers in the comment section.
