Following a fairly quiet day 2 of the NFL Draft, the Eagles kicked off the final stanza with a couple of important draft selections. Here’s all you need to know:

After trading out of the third round to close out the second night of the NFL Draft, the Eagles used their first of two fourth round picks they received from the Denver Broncos in their trade last night to select defensive tackle Ty Robinson out of Nebraska with the 111th pick in the fourth round Saturday afternoon.

Eagles draft Ty Robinson with pick 111

Robinson is a depth IDL that the Eagles were looking for in this draft with the departure of Milton Wiliams. At 6-foot-5 and 288-pounds, is a very athletic and physical linemen, posting a positive RAS. Turning 24 next week, Robinson spent his entire collegiate career spanning six seasons with Nebraska playing in 60 career games from 2019-2024.

Robinson brings toughness to his game, being one of 10 Huskers to earn the distinct honor of wearing a single digit jersey for the football team, which is given based on a team vote on the defensive unit being viewed as one of the toughest players on the team.

Last season, Robinson had 11 QB hits which was first among defensive tackles in college football while adding 42 pressures, 12.5 tackles for loss and team leading seven sacks. He brings an explosive pass rush to his game and opened eyes at the combine running a 4.83 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, which was the fastest mark among at defensive tackles at the combine.

Here’s the scouting report from NFL’s Lance Zierlein on Robinson:

Bully with a roughshod playing style that forces blockers to match his physicality. Robinson is built for the trenches with the versatility to play in odd or even fronts. He’s first into contact with his hands and mitigates average knee-bend with brute force in his upper half. He’s powerful to set edges but lacks length to control and quickly shed NFL blockers. He’s an effort rusher with active hands who can exploit a weak edge and thrive in gaming fronts but possesses average creativity. Robinson might not be a star, but his effort, strength and demeanor could make him a productive pro for years to come.”

Robinson is expected to be a rotational piece for the Eagles at defensive tackle.

Eagles make a(nother) trade

It didn’t take long for the Eagles to get back on the phone, however. The team traded with the New York Jets a little later in the 4th round, surrendering pick 140 in exchange for 145 and 207. This sets the team up nicely with four 5th round picks that could all be used in trade packages or to select more prospects.

The Eagles could well have missed on another player they wanted (the curses of winning a Super Bowl and selecting so late in the round) so instead opted to trade the pick away instead of being overly aggressive.

They still have some depth needs at TE and on both sides of the trenches. It will be intriguing to see what they do next/
