The Philadelphia 76ers played their final road game of the 2024-25 NBA season in Washington Wednesday night. In both a return to the court for the Sixers and a homecoming of sorts, Jeff Dowtin Jr. dominated the night, scoring a career-high 30 points, while leading Philadelphia to their first win since March 16.
An early assault by Lonnie Walker IV and Adem Bona helped Philadelphia earn the early advantage. That advantage would last throughout the game as the Sixers would win each and every individual quarter in this matchup.
Jeff Dowtin Jr. began heating up in the second quarter, scoring 11 points, before scoring another 11 points in a minute and a half stretch in the third quarter. Dowtin would add eight more in the final quarter, completeing his career-night in front of plenty of friends and family.

Entering the fourth with a 10-point lead, Philadelphia survived an initial push, eventually clamping down on the young Washington squad, sealing their victory by a final score of 122-103.
Sixers standings update
With this victory, the Sixers lead over the Brooklyn Nets shrinks to just two and a half games. The Sixers need to lose just one more game of their last two remamining to guarentee their spot in the pre-lottery draft order. Conversley, one more win by the Nets will accomplish the same for the Sixers.

Interestingly enough, the Nets and Sixers share thier next oppornent.
Up next for the Sixers
The Sixers will return home from their final two games of the season. First up is a Friday-night matchup against the Atlanta Hawks, who will be playing the second game of a back-to-back, a ridiculous truth this late in the season.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m., and you can catch the game on NBC Sports Philadelphia or listen live at 97.5 FM, the Fanatic.
