After an international break halted the 2025 MLS Next Pro season last weekend, Ryan Richter’s Union II side is back in action on Friday night when they travel to face Huntsville City FC on the road.

Union II Look for first win of 2025
Union II has started its 2025 season a little slow, but it is still undefeated. Its first game saw it bring home a single point from an away game to New England after it missed a chance to bring 2 points home via the extra-point shootout, but it lost that to the hosts, New England.
Last time out, Union II played in their home opener at Subaru Park against bitter rivals NYRB II. The game wasn’t a brilliant watch, but Cavan Sullivan opened his 2025 goals tally with an unbelievable free kick in the first half. NYRB II equalized in 2nd half stoppage time after Ryan Richter’s went down to 10 men with 10 minutes left in the game. Unlike their opening game, though, Andrew Rick saved 2 more penalties, and Union II won a 2nd point via the shootout.
Speaking of Andrew Rick, the young star goalkeeper for Union II made his first start of the season for the senior team in the MLS last weekend and claimed his first clean sheet of the 2025 season and the second of his professional career. Union II starters Nick Pariano and Stas Korzeniowski also featured on the bench for the senior team.

The hosts for this Friday night showdown, Huntsville City FC, started their season off with a bang. They went on the road to Chicago and thrashed Chicago Fire II 4-1. Looking to continue their hot start, they were on the road again, this time facing Chattanooga FC. However, they couldn’t sustain the momentum from opening weekend, falling to a 1-0 loss. Friday night’s game will be the home opener for their 2025 season.
These two teams have faced each other three times in the past, with the hosts of this one taking the first game in a rare big win over Union II when they won 3-2 back in August of 2023. Philly went on to win the next two meetings between these sides, beating Huntsville 2-1 and then 2-0 in their most recent meeting.
Ryan Richter is still looking for his first win as Union II head coach, and he’ll be hoping this road game on a Friday night will give him that first win. The game is scheduled to take place at 8 pm EST at Wicks Family Field. It can be streamed live on Apple TV via an active MLS Season Pass subscription.
